Most people learn Finnish the wrong way

There's one big mistake I see all the time.
And it's stopping so many people from actually speaking Finnish.

They focus too much on grammar.

But here's the thing… it's not really their fault.

Most Finnish resources are built like school books.
They teach rules, not real talk.
So learners end up memorizing grammar instead of learning how to use Finnish in real life.

Maybe you saw my last email and thought:
"Okay, I'm ready! I want to learn Finnish now!"

That's amazing! But I want to give you a quick heads-up.

Most people try to learn the way they were told:
➡️ Focus on standard Finnish
➡️ Try to say every sentence perfectly
➡️ Learn all the grammar first

But that approach? It usually leads to frustration.

Here's why:

  •  In everyday life, Finns don't speak textbook Finnish. We use spoken Finnish, which is much simpler.
  •  Focusing too much on grammar feeds perfectionism - and that makes people freeze in real conversations.

Instead, learning Finnish should help you let go of overthinking and build real confidence.

Here's what works:
✅ Learn spoken Finnish from day one
✅ Use easy sentence structures so you're always ready to speak
✅ Study in small, stress-free steps that fit your life

Because if your method doesn't do this, here's what happens:
– You understand some written words but can't make actual sentences
– Or you freeze up, lose motivation, and stop altogether

But that doesn't have to be you.

Tomorrow, I'm opening a Summer Sale offer for my course Conversational Finnish for Beginners 1!
It's a step-by-step way to start speaking Finnish with confidence - even if you've struggled before.

It's the same course that helped Daryl speak Finnish with his cousins during his visit to Finland.

Now back at home, he's watching Finnish shows and understanding more… and most importantly, he feels excited to keep going.

And I'd love to help you feel that way too.

So keep an eye on your inbox: the Summer Sale opens tomorrow! ☀️

Talk soon,
Varpu
